After being promoted back to the Premier League it appears as though Aston Villa are willing to splash out on expensive signings.
Since their victory at Wembley they’ve been the subject of a report suggesting they could bid £20m for Neal Maupay whilst the same fee is being touted amid their interest in goalkeeper Jack Butland.
However, their hopes of signing Villarreal creative midfielder Pablo Fornals has been beaten away by journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.
Reacting to the news, Villa supporters were divided as they issued their response on social media. One fan took it in a positive light, explaining that it was an indication of the quality of players their scout Juanfran might be pursuing in Spain.
A further supporter said it didn’t faze them that their interest was dismissed, claiming that he wouldn’t fit into the squad.
Other fans were more disappointed though. One fan claimed their hopes of signing him was fun whilst it lasted after Birmingham Live claimed a frenzy was started on Twitter about signing the player.
After supporters’ hopes of signing him were crushed, the player is now on the verge of joining West Ham in a £25m move per Sky Sports.
Here’s what Villa fans have been saying.
