On the whole, it’s been a poor decade for Leeds United.
The Whites haven’t tasted Premier League football once in the past ten years, but that doesn’t mean that they haven’t had a number of talented players pass through their ranks.
With the 2010s drawing to a close next month, one Leeds supporter asked his fellow fans to nominate a Player of the Decade, and the response from supporters was seemingly split between three current stars.
Unsurprisingly, one name that was on supporters’ lips was Pablo Hernandez.
The Spaniard has been brilliant at Elland Road ever since he joined the club, and he’s only got better as he’s scooped back to back Player of the Year awards.
The next player that was debated amongst the fanbase was a rather surprising one.
Ben White may have only been a Leeds player for a few months, but his incredible performances have seemingly impressed the fans enough for him to be in the conversation.
If longevity wasn’t a factor then White is certainly in with a shout as he’s recently been compared to John Stones, and Leeds haven’t had too many players who’ve deserved praise like that over the past decade.
Finally, there was a subsection of supporters who believe Kalvin Phillips has been Leeds’ best player this decade.
You can understand where they’re coming from. ‘The Yorkshire Pirlo’ has been excellent since Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival, so much so that Danny Higginbotham claims he deserves a place in the England side. Even before then he was a local lad breaking into the first-team, and that was bound to win some supporters over.
Meanwhile, we’ve assessed which election outcome will most benefit Leeds’ chances of getting investment from QSI.
