The pressure is starting to grow on West Ham United manager David Moyes from the London Stadium faithful following another disappointing performance in their 4-1 defeat at home to Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.
While Irons fans may not have expected to get anything from the match against Pep Guardiola’s side, they would have at least expected some effort and a desire to upset the odds, but it was never forthcoming.
The loss was their second by a 4-1 scoreline in the space of seven days, and has left the east London outfit just three points clear of the top flight relegation zone with three fixtures remaining – starting with a trip to Leicester City on Saturday.
Moyes, whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the campaign, has been the subject of much unhappiness from supporters on Twitter, and he looks to be far from certain of staying beyond the end of the season as things stand right now.
There are certainly some individuals on the pitch that have been left frustrated with the Scot this term, and him going would perhaps help to save their Hammers careers.
Here are three West Ham players that will be praying Moyes leaves this summer…
David Moyes was reported to be looking forward to working with Oxford when he returned from a loan spell with Borussia Monchengladbach during the January transfer window, but it was a short-lived relationship.
The 19-year-old ended the month back on loan with the German outfit, and he looks destined to leave the London Stadium this summer if Moyes stays with the east London outfit, given the Scot could be set to bring in two new central defenders.
It remains to be seen whether Oxford would choose to stay with the Irons if a new manager arrived, but it would certainly be a more likely scenario than it would if Moyes remains.
Like Oxford, Hernandez could choose to leave West Ham this summer even if David Moyes does end up leaving the club, but if they did make the right appointment to replace the former Manchester United boss the Mexico international would certainly be more inclined to stay.
The 29-year-old has found starts hard to come by under Moyes with the likes of Marko Arnautovic and Michail Antonio often preferred in the centre-forward spots despite it not being their natural positions, and he has been left frustrated.
It was reported by club insider @ExWHUemployee earlier this week that he is one of the players that has spoken out about his situation with his manager, along with teammate Andy Carroll.
Like Hernandez, Carroll has grown frustrated at his lack of minutes on the pitch under Moyes when he has been fit and available, and that anger boiled over during the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
The Scot decided to make a triple substitution with the scoreline at 4-1, but Carroll wasn’t one of the trio chosen to come on and decided to walk straight down the tunnel as a result.
It was then reported by Football.London on Monday that the duo had a heated exchange on the training pitch, although the centre-forward has now apologised to his manager for his actions.
Nevertheless, the 29-year-old will be keen for Moyes to move on because of the fractured relationship, as well as boosting his chances of playing more regularly next term.
