West Ham United star Manuel Lanzini could be involved in Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup match against Bolton Wanderers after stepping up his recovery in training, according to ClaretandHugh.
What’s the latest?
The Argentine has featured just once this season due to injury problems, and his presence has been missed.
Slaven Bilic’s men had a torrid start to the campaign, losing their opening three Premier League matches.
On their return to the London Stadium, the club’s fortunes turned around as they overcame Huddersfield 2-0, but they drew a blank at the weekend in a goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion.
Ahead of this week’s third-round match in the Carabao Cup, ClaretandHugh report that Lanzini could get a few minutes under his belt after returning to training.
Bilic has publicly stated that the 24-year-old is still a few weeks away from returning to competitive action, but it seems that there is a slim chance of the playmaker featuring.
How should West Ham manage Lanzini?
After scoring eight goals in 39 appearances in all competitions last season, the Argentine is regarded as an influential figure in the Hammers team.
He has the potential to be a key player in the club’s season, but that is only if he stays fit.
Lanzini has not featured since the end of August, so his match fitness will be lacking, hence why it makes sense to ease him back into first-team action.
Bilic is likely to make wholesale changes to his team for Tuesday’s match against Championship opposition.
Rather than throw Lanzini into a crucial Premier League game, it would make more sense to hand the playmaker some minutes mid-week.
